Ideal situations!

There is something about me and ideal situations. Every now and then I catch myself pondering over it. Every time something goes south or things seem stagnant or whatever, I find myself searching for ideal situations for that time! You know what I mean? Probably not. Let me rephrase..

Do you ever stop to wonder what it would be like to be in an idyllic world where there are no bars holding you back from doing the things that you want to do, no responsibilities restricting you, no issues whatsoever or no little voices in your head to constantly remind you what you can or cannot do? And in that perfect world, how do you behave? What do you do in such ultimate state of affairs? Do you still sit around and procrastinate, trying to set an example for being the ultimate lazy being on the planet? No, right? Because when you do not have those shackles handcuffing you, you actually go out of your way to do every single little and gigantic things that you always wanted to do! You actually DO stuffs!

Reality doesn’t have the luxury for such demeanours. But we have been furnished to make do under such circumstances only, since that is all that we can afford. Even the best of us, no reservations there!

So I often teleport myself to a parallel universe where reality is an ideal situation and vice versa and then I try to see where I can go from there. Try to explore all my possibilities and see if it can be applied in this universe, in however feeble a manner. If not anything else, I can trace the trajectory of my heart’s desire. And you know what they say, “when there is will there is way”! So once I know what I really want to do, I find a way to do it; if not right then, later; even if I can’t actually do it then I prepare myself for it. And if none of the above is possible, at least I get to skate in my reverie and get momentary relief, which is definitely better than doing nothing and feeling miserable and glum. And needless to say, the next stage of this flight of fancy is feeling miserable and glum. And you go back and forth through the parallel and real universes till you zero in on a fantasy that is more do-able than the previous ones and finally strive towards it! Might seem like a tiring affair, it probably is. It is after all a whole muddle of day dreams and fantasies. Wait, where was I going with this? Let’s just say it helps in giving us a purpose, a goal. Which actually is a rarity in most of our cases!

Think of it as The Mirror of Erised (which is desire spelled backwards, for all the muggles out there) which “shows us nothing more than the deepest, most desperate desires of our hearts”, as Professor Dumbledore puts it. And he cautions us regarding it’s delinquencies as well when he states :

I am sure there are tonnes of disadvantages in wandering about in your ideal world situation, but what doesn’t? Anything and everything has their own set of shortcomings. One has to take the best out of them. At least this way you know what you actually want to do.
