So I did something..
Recently I had a talk with a friend about self-confidence. Or the lack of it, to be precise.
What sparked the conversation was a dance programme that I was a part of and the fact that I tried to hide it from her because I wasn't "confident enough" to invite her. In my defense, I was performing on stage (properly) after 7 years. 7 freaking years! So obviously I had my reasons!
But her words left quite an impression on me and made me want to make up for it. So here goes:
It is a Bharatanatyam dance item called Natesha Kauthuvam and it is performed in praise of Lord Shiva who is regarded as the god of destruction as well as the god of dance in his 'Nataraj' form.
It's a work in progress and we'll get better at it. Hope you enjoy this for now.
A few days back I had a similar conversation with another friend about how we like to hide behind our comfort zones and let everyone else walk all over us. I realised I have this conversation with different people over and over. It's kind of not okay with me anymore.
Uploading this video took a lot of coaxing and wheedling from my part but it is definitely a step forward. That, to me is better than being stagnant and then complaining about it.
Until next time!
Live a little :(:
